Through this module I have explored in more depth the fine art of researching.
My first artefact: Spectacle
Overall for my first artefact I am very pleased with the outcome, mainly with two of my photos. My idea was to make the person think about what they see and how this effects them. I’m happy with this in many ways, firstly I actively wanted to carry out this work and I felt the idea was sound and good enough to create an effective piece of work for this module. Secondly, my thought process helped me create a better artefact than I had previously conceived. Through this I was able to adapt my artefact, make some changes and finish with my complete artefact. Finally my photoshop skills are beginning to improve and i’m enjoying using the software more and hopefully these changes are showing in my work. However I feel that the spectacle theme is by far my best piece of work.
Memory
For memory I was happy with my concept which was ever changing on the slightest detail. Ideally I wanted more time in order to progress my idea further and possibly create a film using a techneque I used to create one of the artefacts (heavy dark brush strokes in photoshop – I tried out this techneque last term for a stop motion video I created). I felt that I could of made more artefacts and created a wider variety and contrasting images.
Power
Not my best piece of work by a long shot! I was exceptionally disapointed with my work for this theme. Unfortunately, my short film I wanted to create never came to fruition which frustrated me some what as I wanted to try a different type of medium. The idea of using and editing politics and political figures has clearly been done and with more thought I could of explored perhaps another route which no one has thought of. However over the Christmas period I will be coming back to this to see how I can improve it.
Research
As far as this goes, I havn’t put as much effort into it as I should have with regards to making records of it. I tend to keep my ideas and thought processes in my head and then only write down the final idea. Perhaps I need to be looking down a new avenue, one where I actively record all my thoughts but it most certainly will not be on here.
To conclude, I’m happy with my frist artefact, and less so with my second and the less said about the third the better! As I say I want to perhaps readdress all of the artefacts that I have created and see how I can progress them further.
